A pen-and-ink drawing of dozens of small grey Murkmares in rust-red hats crowded on a dark dresser between a cotton reel and two thimbles.

The Murkmares

or, Sleep Tight

A rhyming picture book about why you wake up the way you do: cold toes, knotted hair and crusty eyes, all the work of small grey creatures who come by the dozens while you sleep.

Darkly funny and drawn in scratchy pen and ink, for brave readers and the grown-ups who read to them. In paperback and on Kindle.

Apps

A vintage matchbox label reading Poppet, Safety Matches, with an engraved cloth doll with button eyes, cross-stitched seams and a red heart.

Poppet

A poppet is older than the movies. This one is yours.

A stitched cloth doll waits on a candlelit altar, with a box of matches and a dish of pins close at hand.

Coming soon to Google Play and the App Store.

The DreamCatcher app icon: a round wooden dreamcatcher with a pale web and a glowing bead at its centre, three feathers hanging below, on a dark starry sky.

DreamCatcher

Speak your dream before it fades.

Tap the dreamcatcher when you wake and tell it what you dreamt. It writes the dream down for you and offers a reading of its symbols and its mood.

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

Games

A still from the game, framed like an old home video: empty yellow-walled rooms under rows of ceiling lights, a potted plant in a doorway, and the caption: Do you hear that? A deep hum... somewhere close.

The Backrooms

An office that goes on forever, and something in it with you.

A first-person horror game that begins in an ordinary office late at night and slips into endless yellow rooms that hum. There are five levels down, each stranger than the last.

Up to six friends can play together: one starts a tape at the desk computer and the others join with its code.

Free in your browser. Best on a computer with a keyboard and mouse.

About

The studio

Moth & Match is a small independent studio. So far it has a rhyming picture book in print, two apps on the way and a game you can play free in your browser.

This site doesn't track you, and we build our apps to collect as little as possible. We can't say as much for the Murkmares.
